Middle East Academy for Medicine of Aging (MEAMA)

Executive Introduction

The MEAMA Certificate in Modern Geriatric Medicine & Healthy Aging is a flagship four-session, competency-based program designed to strengthen clinical, scientific, and managerial expertise in geriatric medicine across the Middle East and comparable regions. Established under the auspices of the Middle East Academy for Medicine of Aging (MEAMA), the program integrates evidence-based medicine, cultural sensitivity, and multidisciplinary care models.

Over the years, MEAMA has collaborated with reputable governmental, regional, and international organizations, including academic institutions and professional societies in Europe and the Middle East. Its programs are supported through partnerships with recognized bodies such as the International Institute on Ageing (United Nations-Malta) and the Medical Faculty of the University of Monastir, Tunisia. Certificates and Diplomas carry the official logos of MEAMA and collaborating institutions, reflecting academic rigor and international recognition.

The Academy has successfully conducted seven Advanced Postgraduate Courses in the field of Age and Aging and is currently running its eighth course, structured in four modular sessions. The final session of the current cycle is scheduled for April 2026.

The curriculum addresses the biological foundations of aging, comprehensive geriatric assessment, geriatric syndromes, cognitive and mood disorders, ethical decision-making, and integrated models of care for complex older adults. Teaching methods include interactive lectures, case-based learning, group discussions, and structured assessments.

Upon successful completion, participants receive the MEAMA Certificate in Modern Geriatric Medicine & Healthy Aging, demonstrating competency in delivering comprehensive and culturally responsive geriatric care.
